NEW YORK CITY/BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — February 6, 2024 — Southern Living announces today that its 2024 Idea House is located in the Kiawah River community, about 20 miles from Charleston, S.C. This year’s home will be open for public tours from August to December 2024. The home will be featured on SouthernLiving.com and in the September 2024 issue of Southern Living, available on newsstands August 23.

Situated in the newly established Kiawah River community, the 2024 Idea House is a 4,400 square-foot historic farmhouse that embodies the landscape of the Lowcountry, featuring outdoor living spaces with picturesque water views serving as the backdrop. The home will incorporate the work of many local creatives, like Charleston-based Andrea Cayetano-Jefferson of Gullah Sweetgrass Baskets and home textile designer Rebecca Atwood. Kiawah River is a lush riverfront community that boasts more than 2000-acres of homes and buildable lots, hiking trails, and Palmetto-lined greenspaces to accompany its river views.

The Idea House program has long served as a source of inspiration, from decor and design ideas to product recommendations, and this year’s home will feature new shoppable experiences to allow visitors and readers to seamlessly incorporate a piece of the Lowcountry charm into their own homes.

Sid Evans, editor in chief of Southern Living said, “This year’s home is all about embracing the natural beauty and laid-back lifestyle of Kiawah River, with nods to the art and culinary scenes of nearby Charleston — a place near and dear to our readers’ hearts. The home’s waterfront views, locally-sourced art and textiles, and outdoor living spaces will embody the spirit of Lowcountry living.”

The talented team of Charleston locals that will bring the Idea House to life includes builder Dillard-Jones, architect MHK Architecture, interior designer Allison Elebash Interiors, and landscape architect DesignWorks.

“Over the past 36 years, our Idea House Program has continued to inspire our readers and celebrate the Southern lifestyle,” said Deirdre Finnegan, vice president, publisher of Southern Living, “The home’s design draws inspiration from its charming natural surroundings, and the Kiawah River community has so much to offer, making it the ideal setting for the 2024 Idea House. We’re excited to bring our new and returning sponsors to South Carolina and to share the creative ways in which their innovative products are highlighted in this year’s home.”

There are currently 14 sponsors of the 2024 Idea House whose products will be included in the home: Alabama Stone Co. DOMOTEX 2024 Served As A Popular Meeting Place For Exhibitors And Attendees https://www.textileworld.com/textile-world/2024/02/domotex-2024-served-as-a-popular-meeting-place-for-exhibitors-and-attendees/ Thu, 01 Feb 2024 16:46:11 +0000 https://www.textileworld.com/?p=92588 HANNOVER, Germany — February 1, 2024 — For the second time, the keynote theme FLOORED BY NATURE focused on the megatrend of sustainability, including various aspects such as recycling, resource conservation and environmental protection.

DOMOTEX 2024, Eröffnung, Night Time in a Palace

Natural and sustainable Floor Coverings

In the Flooring segment, the range of products offered by exhibitors was characterised in particular by sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions. With ‘LICO DENIM FLOOR’, the Swiss company Li & Co presented a unique solution using waste from the fashion industry. In addition to jeans, the product is made from other recyclable materials, including a wood-based core board and an underlay of the rapidly renewable material cork. Amorim, GRANORTE and ZIRO have specialized in flooring made from this environmentally friendly material. Natural cork floors have a number of positive characteristics: they are soft and resilient, yet extremely durable. In addition, they have an insulating effect, reduce sound transmission and temperature fluctuations, and improve the indoor climate at the same time. This makes cork flooring the ideal basis for a comfortable home.

Vinyl and design floor coverings are very popular. However, the PVC (polyvinyl chloride) often used to make them has been criticized for containing harmful plasticizers that have a negative impact on our environment and health. In line with its ‘we care / we act’ motto, Gerflor showcased sustainable vinyl and linoleum products at DOMOTEX and highlighted its “Second Life” recycling program. CFL Flooring introduced two new attractive alternatives to less sustainable oil-based products: ‘NovoCore’ and ‘Tenacity Eco-Composite Flooring’. ‘NovoCore’ is an engineered vinyl flooring that is waterproof, extremely durable, resistant to heat and sunlight and recyclable. It is also completely free of phthalates and other harmful plasticizers. ‘Tenacity Eco-Composite Flooring’ is a PVC-free engineered stone floor with a high proportion of recycled and natural materials. Classen presented another convincing solution, called ‘CERAMIN’: Instead of PVC, the manufacturer uses a unique combination of a natural mineral and polypropylene (PP), which is completely harmless and is mainly used in the food packaging industry.

Inspired by Nature

It is not only in terms of properties that naturalness plays an important role. With wood and stone finishes, many exhibitors also favored a natural look in their collections this year. SWISS KRONO, for example, has expanded its ‘COREPEL EVOLUTION’ line with the new ‘COREPEL EVOLUTION PURE’ collection, which combines a real wood surface with a waterproof core and impresses with its natural look. In terms of appearance, the manufacturer’s focuses on stone and wood decors that are almost indistinguishable from the real materials in terms of look and feel. Kronospan also uses real wood veneer as the top layer for its ‘Organic Veneer Parquet’. The high-quality brushed oak surface creates a particularly cozy atmosphere. Another highlight presented by the manufacturer was the ‘MO.RE!’ laminate flooring with moisture resistance technology.

KAINDL presented a real eye-catcher with the ‘Natural Touch’ decors from the ‘Select’ product line. New to the range is the elegant ‘Milano Oak’ decor with a perfectly coordinated surface and a dynamic look. The slightly rustic ‘Alta’ collection from Lamett features a rich wood texture and a subtle color scheme. Belgian brand Floorify focuses on the look and feel of natural wood planks and polished concrete tiles for its ‘Rigid Vinyl Planks & Tiles’. Meanwhile, Green-Flor’s new ‘PRIME INSPIRATION’ collection is inspired by slate, and mFLOR too favors natural designs for its PVC flooring.

Innovations for Walls

Wall coverings are experiencing a revival and are finding their way into more and more living and working spaces. They are not only a modern design element, but also actively contribute to a feel-good atmosphere by improving room acoustics. With ‘Acoustic Sense WOOD’, the German company MeisterWerke has added three new real wood surfaces to its range of acoustic panels. The combination of natural wood and high-quality felt is said to absorb up to 100% of sound. Neuhofer’s ‘FN Acustico HEXAGO’ – hexagonal acoustic elements – are also made of (polyester) felt. They can be used to decorate a wall or to create individual accents. LICO Hydro HeatWall’ wall panels from Li & Co. offer not only acoustic effectiveness and modern aesthetics, but also warming properties. Equipped with a special conductive heating layer on the back, the panels provide warmth and comfort almost at the touch of a button.

In addition to wall coverings, the new RETAILERS’ PARK in Hall 19/20 was the right place to discover products for interior finishing. These included paints and varnishes from Südwest, Meffert and PPG Coating, and wallpapers from AS Creation and Erfurt & Sohn. Subfloors and related products such as skirting and adhesives were also well represented by exhibitors such as THOMSIT, Südbrock, Bostik and Döllken. Carpet manufacturers such as Lano, Edel Carpets, Infloor Girloon and Vorwerk completed the product range in the RETAILERS’ PARK. ‘Together with DECOR UNION and MEGA, we have created an area full of value for our visitors’, said Sonia Wedell-Castellano, Global Director of DOMOTEX. The new area was particularly well received by representatives from the retail, trade and architectural sectors. ‘The successful premiere shows that our target groups welcome the opportunity to see all the solutions for a room, from floor to ceiling, at a single trade fair. That’s why we will continue to expand the exhibition area for wall and ceiling products in the future.’

FLOORED BY NATURE generates strong Feedback in the Carpet Segment

Sustainability and environmental responsibility are playing an increasingly important role for exhibitors in the Carpets & Rugs segment, which combines handmade and machine-made carpets. Handmade carpets, such as those on display at DOMOTEX, are not only unique works of art but environmentally friendly by their nature. The use of renewable and natural materials, combined with their durability, makes handmade carpets a sustainable component of home and contract furnishings. Made from high quality sheep’s wool or blended with fine silk, they provide thermal insulation and temperature equalization, absorb dust and pollen from the air, are pleasantly soft to the touch and create a special atmosphere in a room. In addition to these qualities, manufacturers such as Jaipur Rugs, Paulig and Theo Keller are socially committed to fair trade and the elimination of child labor.

With ‘RECYCLE’, Merinos presented a collection created from 100% recycled polyester, which was spun into high-quality yarn from 9,500 tons of waste material after it was recycled in the in-house processing facility. Oriental Weavers from Egypt presented ‘Elixir’, a new innovative cotton carpet collection characterized by the use of natural dyes. For the Elixir collection, the company uses only natural dyes extracted from plants and fruits. The colors are therefore not only environmentally friendly, biodegradable and renewable, but also completely non-toxic for both humans and the environment.

A Splash of Color

In addition to natural shades and textures, DOMOTEX 2024 featured many carpets and rugs in intense colors, including Tisca, Brink & Campman and Jaipur Rugs. Trend experts such as Holly Becker (decor8), Stefan Nilsson (Trendstefan) and Gabriela Kaiser (TRENDagentur Gabriela Kaiser) see this development as a counterpoint to the minimalist interior trends in natural colour palettes that have dominated the furnishing industry in recent years. Other factors contributing to this developing trend are the ‘mood-lifting’ properties and the ‘desire for change’ in economically challenging times. ‘This is the year of change – we are looking for things that are different, fun and light-hearted. Bold colours are coming back’, explained Stefan Nilsson.

An imaginative journey into the world of Persian knotting awaited visitors at the exhibition Night Time in a Palace by carpet artist Lila Valadan. The label reinterprets traditional designs and techniques while at the same time referring to their roots. The skilfully handmade carpets were presented in a series of interlocking rooms. Each of the room installations offered a fascinating interplay of art, design and the cultural richness of traditional carpet making.

New interpretations and innovative developments such as these are already arousing curiosity as to next year’s DOMOTEX – Carpets & Rugs, which will take place from 16 to 19 January 2025.

Leggett & Platt Announces Restructuring Plan To Drive Improved Performance And Profitable Growth https://www.textileworld.com/textile-world/2024/01/leggett-platt-announces-restructuring-plan-to-drive-improved-performance-and-profitable-growth/ Tue, 16 Jan 2024 19:27:00 +0000 https://www.textileworld.com/?p=91971 CARTHAGE, Mo. — January 16, 2024 — Diversified manufacturer Leggett & Platt announced that it is implementing a Restructuring Plan primarily in its Bedding Products segment and to a lesser extent, in its Furniture, Flooring & Textile Products segment. In response to evolving markets, the company is taking actions to improve manufacturing and distribution efficiency, advance its product strategy, and further support customer needs. These actions are expected to generate $40 to $50 million in EBIT benefit on an annualized run-rate basis when fully implemented in late 2025.

President and CEO Mitch Dolloff commented: “We are taking actions to create a more focused, agile organization with a portfolio of products and operating footprint aligned with the markets we serve. The bedding market has experienced unprecedented change in recent years and the competitive landscape has continued to evolve. Reshaping our Bedding Products strategy is expected to better position us for long-term success as the leading provider of bedding solutions across the value chain. In addition, optimizing our operating footprint in both Bedding Products and Furniture, Flooring & Textile Products will reduce complexity and enhance the efficiency of our business. Looking forward, we expect to advance key product growth, improve profitability, and drive enhanced value for customers and shareholders.”

Overview Of Initiatives
The major Bedding Products initiatives that are part of the Restructuring Plan include:

  • Refocusing Strategy: We are continuing to reshape our Bedding Products business to focus on innovative, higher-value content, driven by customer and end-consumer needs. We are proud of our long history of providing product solutions our customers value and see further opportunities to do so in both innersprings and specialty foam, from components to private label finished goods.
  • Optimizing Manufacturing and Distribution Footprint: We plan to consolidate certain locations across the Bedding Products segment, reducing our manufacturing and distribution footprint of 50 facilities to approximately 30 to 35 facilities. Creating a new and more efficient regional distribution network will support our ability to maintain sufficient manufacturing capacity in fewer, higher-output facilities to effectively serve our customers and better align with anticipated future market demand. These actions should allow us to integrate our specialty foam and innerspring capabilities while maintaining market- leading service and product quality levels and improving overall efficiency.

The initiatives outlined above are expected to enable profitable growth through expanded product capabilities and increased content at attractive price points, reduce costs, and create shareholder value.

In Furniture, Flooring & Textile Products we plan to consolidate a small number of production facilities in Home Furniture and Flooring Products to better align capacity with regional demand and drive operating efficiencies.

Financial Impact
In total, the initiatives are expected to reduce annual sales by approximately $100 million and generate $40 to $50 million in EBIT benefit on an annualized run-rate basis when fully implemented in late 2025, with some of the benefit starting to be realized in the second half of 2024. Additionally, we anticipate receiving approximately $60 to $80 million in net cash proceeds from the sale of real estate associated with the initiatives, with transactions largely complete by the end of 2025.

We expect to incur restructuring and restructuring-related costs of $65 to $85 million, of which approximately half are anticipated to be incurred in 2024 and the remainder in 2025. This includes $30 to $40 million in cash costs, the majority of which are anticipated to be incurred in 2024. In the first half of 2024, we anticipate $20 to $25 million of restructuring and restructuring-related costs (approximately half in cash costs).

Long-Term Financial Targets

In connection with the Restructuring Plan, we are withdrawing our previously stated Total Shareholder Return goal of 11–14% and financial targets, including revenue growth, EBIT margin, and dividend payout ratio. Revised financial targets will be issued at a future date. We are not changing our objectives of maintaining our investment grade debt ratings and our current dividend practices.

Fourth Quarter 2023 Impairment Charge

In addition, but unrelated to the Restructuring Plan, we are impairing an estimated $450 million of long-lived assets (primarily intangibles) associated with prior year acquisitions in the Bedding Products segment. Prolonged weak demand and changing market dynamics have created disruption and financial instability for some of our customers. As a result, recent efforts by certain customers to improve their financial position are expected to reduce our future sales and earnings. We are not otherwise updating guidance for, or reporting upon, our fourth quarter 2023 or full year 2023 financial results. These financial results and 2024 full year guidance will be released on February 8, 2024.

DOMOTEX 2024: Internationality, Sustainability And Networking https://www.textileworld.com/textile-world/2024/01/domotex-2024-internationality-sustainability-and-networking/ Sun, 14 Jan 2024 18:37:31 +0000 https://www.textileworld.com/?p=91890 HANNOVER, Germany — January 14, 2024 — DOMOTEX once again proved to be the most important and powerful driving force for business, trends and innovations in the industry. “DOMOTEX is not only the global meeting place for the industry, but also the home of the entire carpet and flooring world, thanks to its positive energy and its distinctly international character,” said Sonia Wedell-Castellano, Global director of DOMOTEX. During the four days of the show, about 18,000 visitors from 140 countries, met with around 1,000 exhibitors from more than 60 nations. “We are delighted that decision-makers from even more countries than before are coming to Hannover to learn about the latest trends and new products — including 170 debuts — and to make new business connections,” continued Wedell-Castellano. Some 71 percent of visitors come from abroad — 65 percent from Europe, 18 percent from Asia, 9 percent from America, 4 percent from the Middle East and the rest from Africa and Australia.

Visitors come to DOMOTEX to find out where the Industry’s heading

Oliver Ginestier, director of Communications at the European DIY Retail Association (EDRA), was delighted to “see the world of flooring meeting again in a vibrant atmosphere”. At this year’s show, he was able to meet many of the suppliers attending the association’s Global DIY Summit, as well as many of the association’s members. Martin Geiger, managing director of GEIGER, has been attending the world’s leading show for many years to get an overview of the market at the start of the business year. “I was particularly impressed by the increase in the number of exhibitors — in its second year after the pandemic, the show has already grown significantly again. This underlines the importance of DOMOTEX for our industry.” Jamie Metrick, president and chief product officer of the Toronto-based interior design company Elte appreciates the comprehensive market overview and addedd: “Here at DOMOTEX, I can meet important global business partners, easily discover potential suppliers and find out about the latest trends and developments in the industry”.

Carpets & Rugs and Flooring Exhibitors delighted with high level of Internationality & Visitor Quality

DOMOTEX offers the perfect opportunity to introduce new products to a global audience, says Theresa Paulig, shareholder and executive partner of Paulig. “It is difficult to present our entire range of products internationally by travelling alone. At DOMOTEX, we can display the entire range of innovations to our existing customers in a short amount of time, deepen our relationships and make contacts with new customers from all over the world. This is what makes DOMOTEX unique for us.” “Our main reason for exhibiting at DOMOTEX was to give our exports a boost — especially in Germany, the UK and Eastern-Europe. The first and second day were already excellent for us and we are happy about our decision to participate. We are pleased with the number, quality and internationality of the DOMOTEX visitors,” reported Cathérine Vandepoel, export manager at Floorify. Markus Oberbauer, managing director of Kronoflooring GmbH, was also delighted with the large number of customers: “DOMOTEX 2024 was a great success for us. We are very satisfied. All of our major customers were here, and the international participation was particularly high. In total, we welcomed around 500 different customer groups to our stand who were interested in our innovations and our new logistics concept.”

DOMOTEX goes vertical

Products for walls and ceilings were presented for the first time in the new RETAILERS’ PARK in Hall 19/20. “All of our visitors — from retailers to craftsmen and architects — have to consider spaces as a whole to create a coherent interior design. That’s why we’ve teamed up with DECOR UNION and the MEGA Gruppe to include paints, varnishes, wallpapers and more interior finishing and the premiere has already been a great success. The new special area for interior finishes, which is being organized in collaboration with DECOR UNION and MEGA, offers a genuine value for the trade and craft sector,” explained Wedell-Castellano. One in three participants is already specifically interested in the new special show as the visitor survey reveals. This is why the global director of DOMOTEX can imagine expanding the show’s portfolio to include more products for interior finishing in the future.

DOMOTEX is worth a visit

This year’s edition of DOMOTEX offered all participants inspiring special displays, a diverse supporting program with conferences, live presentations and award ceremonies as well as numerous opportunities for networking. The trade fair once again focused on the megatrends of sustainability and circular economy. Visitors were able to experience the keynote theme FLOORED BY NATURE in particular at THE GREEN COLLECTION in Hall 23. In its second year, the special display once again offered extraordinary presentations of sustainable and environmentally friendly products, a tactile presentation of sustainable materials by raumprobe | Materialbank and the latest research projects from the German Research Institute for Floor Systems (TFI) Aachen. The sustainable focus was also reflected in the exhibitors’ product ranges.

At DOMOTEX on Stage in Hall 23, speakers from the fields of architecture, interior design, the skilled trades, politics, associations, trade and trend scouts presented the latest market developments and trend topics. Other topics included the shortage of skilled workers and workplace culture. The conference program was complemented by the forums in the RETAILERS’ PARK , the Mood Spaces and the Carpet Design Awards .

“This is my first time at DOMOTEX and I’m really impressed. The Mood Spaces offer a lot of inspiration for my everyday work,” revealed Sophie Berger, interior designer at Rostock-based architecture office MZ Architektur Meier + Zeug. The trade fair also allows her to think “outside the box” and become familiar with new flooring solutions and suppliers in a short amount of time. Merle Queisner, architect at Bünenmann & Collegen, emphasizes the value of a live event: “Here at DOMOTEX, I don’t just get detailed information about carpets and floor coverings. I can also experience the quality of the products first hand. I can take a close look, touch and feel the surface. That’s simply not possible digitally.”

The next DOMOTEX – Carpets & Rugs in Hannover will take place from 16 to 19 January 2025.

B.I.G. Yarns, A New European Producer Of PET BCF Yarns For Automotive Carpet https://www.textileworld.com/textile-world/nonwovens-technical-textiles/2024/01/b-i-g-yarns-a-new-european-producer-of-pet-bcf-yarns-for-automotive-carpet/ Thu, 11 Jan 2024 17:59:25 +0000 https://www.textileworld.com/?p=91856 WIELSBEKE, Belgium — January 11, 2024 — To expand its support for high-end and luxurious automotive interiors, B.I.G. Yarns has completed its first industrial production runs of virgin polyester BCF yarns for automotive carpet to complement its line of polyamide PA6 superior yarns.

There is a growing market in PET for automotive interior applications, with polyester allowing automotive OEMs and Tier 1 to develop products that, from the outset, consider eco-design by building MONO-polymer carpets and flooring that are 100 percent recyclable at End of Life (EOL ). These materials are helping to ensure improved and more sustainable EOL recycling of electric vehicles that are driving the future of the car industry.

The new PET BCF Yarns offer high-performance for automotive carpets, including abrasion and stain resistance, and durability, passing all stringent automotive tests including the Taber test for abrasion performance, compressibility and recovery ability test, light fastness in automotive (DIN EN ISO 105-B06) and VOC (fogging) according the VDA 278 test on VOC and FOG emission. The yarns can be color solution dyed, have a dTex between 1300 and 1500, 81 filaments and are ideally for mats with a composition of 400 to 800 gram per m², while the yarns for molded carpets have a dTex of 1200, 144 filaments for 380 gram per m².

“As the industry continues its transition towards circularity, making the right material choice is crucial from the outset to ensure the best possible eco-design and recyclability. Our newcomer, PET BCF yarns, brings virgin material to automotive carpets, creating a new systemic approach towards MONO-polymer-based automotive applications,” said Glenn Hyzak, global sales director, Yarns.

With the addition of PET BCF yarns, B.I.G. Yarns is now a one-stop-shop for 3 types of Solution Dyed BCF carpet yarns for the automotive industry: nylon (PA6), polypropylene (PP) and polyester (PET), and the Eqo-range of PA6 yarns — the sustainability focused EqoBalance, EqoCycle and EqoYarn. This strategically positions the company to help carpet manufacturers meet their sustainability targets.

The automotive carpet market is expected to grow strongly in the coming decade with the increased demand for vehicle customization and personalization driven by owners looking to upgrade and enhance interiors, including the flooring area.

A growing awareness around car hygiene is also boosting the market as consumers become more conscious of maintaining cleanliness in their vehicles, including the floors. Automotive carpets provide an effective solution by trapping dirt and preventing it from spreading to other areas.

B.I.G. Yarns supports manufacturers as they invest in research and development to introduce more innovative and improved products to cater to these evolving consumer needs.

“From sustainability to enhanced functionalities and color, we work closely with our customers, supporting them in design for vehicle customization and personalization, and in building new carpet designs that have never be seen before. Be inspired by our SustainableYarns and our monthly Catch The Color and let us help you open up exciting new opportunities with our continuous focus on innovation and sustainability,” concluded Mélanie Monceaux, R&D manager B.I.G. Yarns.

B.I.G. Yarns is proactive in developing new products that better serve customers’ needs in a sustainable way. Its solutions are at the forefront of industry product design, and it is fully committed to achieving an improved climate impact in the full supply chain within the automotive interiors industry by focusing on what matters most.

Carpetworkz Leads The Way In Sustainability With Innovative Reused Carpet Services https://www.textileworld.com/textile-world/2024/01/carpetworkz-leads-the-way-in-sustainability-with-innovative-reused-carpet-services/ Thu, 11 Jan 2024 17:16:46 +0000 https://www.textileworld.com/?p=91850 SINGAPORE — January 11, 2024 — With a firm commitment to environmental responsibility, Carpetworkz, a leading carpet supplier in Singapore, is proud to introduce its reuse carpet service. The initiative is aimed at providing individuals and businesses with quality reused carpets at reduced prices while championing sustainability by contributing directly to waste reduction, promoting a circular economy in return.

Carbon footprint reduction

From energy-intensive manufacturing processes reliant on non-renewable materials to their disposal in landfills, carpets pose a substantial environmental challenge. The manufacturing alone accounts for significant greenhouse gas emissions, while their disposal leads to methane release, a potent greenhouse gas. This is where Carpetworkz’s reuse carpet service directly addresses these issues by extending carpets’ lifecycles, curbing the demand for new production, and notably reducing the overall carbon footprint associated with carpeting.

Event-based sustainability

Carpetworkz’s approach to sustainability revolves around the retrieval, refurbishment, and repurposing of carpets post-events. The process begins with Carpetworkz’s team swiftly retrieving used event carpets, thereby preventing these materials from being discarded as waste. Once collected, these carpets undergo a rigorous cleaning process that surpasses conventional cleaning methods. Specialised techniques are then employed to rejuvenate the carpets, ensuring they not only meet Carpetworkz’s stringent quality standards but also exude a refreshed appearance akin to new carpet flooring. This unique practice showcases the company’s dedication to environmental preservation but also underscores its commitment to offering a cost-effective solution to its clients.

“At Carpetworkz, we believe in the power of sustainable solutions, and our reuse carpet service aligns with our vision of providing high-quality flooring options while minimising environmental impact,” said Jacob Tan, CEO at Carpetworkz. “We’re excited to offer our customers an opportunity to be a part of our sustainability journey while making affordable, eco-conscious choices for their carpet flooring needs.”

Team collaboration for sustainable impact

The recent collaboration between Carpetworkz and Tarkus Interiors during Singapore Design Week was a testament to the transformational impact of collective action in driving meaningful change. Their partnership not only showcased innovative design solutions but also served as an educational platform, inviting visitors to reconsider the lifecycle of materials and embrace the significance of incorporating reused elements into contemporary design.

In essence, this initiative represents a pioneering approach to environmental consciousness, while also emphasising a dedication to innovation and client-centric solutions that revolutionise the way Singaporeans view carpeting solutions.

BRÜCKNER: A Wide Range Of Finishing Lines For Carpets And Textile Floor Coverings https://www.textileworld.com/textile-world/supplier-notes/2024/01/bruckner-a-wide-range-of-finishing-lines-for-carpets-and-textile-floor-coverings/ Wed, 10 Jan 2024 18:58:07 +0000 https://www.textileworld.com/?p=91827 LEONBERG, Germany — January 10, 2024 — BRÜCKNER has been known worldwide for decades for its high-quality lines for textile finishing. The company also offers a wide range of lines for the carpet industry. For more than 70 years customers around the globe have been working with BRÜCKNER lines for coating, drying and finishing a wide variety of floor coverings.

Numerous lines for the production and finishing of carpets and textile floor coverings are in operation worldwide. In recent years, a wide range of lines have been supplied for finishing tufted and woven carpets, as well as thermofusion ovens for needle felt and back coating lines for artificial turf.

BRÜCKNER lines offer the right unit for every process. Whether full bath impregnation for aqueous media, one-sided full-surface or dot application of latex and acrylate pastes, foam or paste application via various roller and knife blade systems for backing consolidation, application of laminating adhesive for a secondary backing and laminating units for wet laminating of the secondary back — BRÜCKNER has the right solution for every technology.

In addition to the application units, the portfolio naturally also includes corresponding drying systems. These include, for example, the SPLIT-FLOW dryers or the thermofusion ovens from the SUPRA-FLOW product line, which are also used for drying and heat-setting after digital printing or dyeing. The DUO-THERM dryer has been specially developed for drying coated floor coverings. It is particularly suitable for thermal treatment processes that require temperature separation between the upper and lower air.

Like all BRÜCKNER lines, the DUO-THERM dryer can be heated with different media: direct or indirect gas heating, thermal oil heating, steam heating in low- or high-pressure versions, electric heating or hybrid versions. A recently delivered BRÜCKNER line for drying recyclable floor coverings was equipped with a completely electrically heated DUO-THERM dryer. By operating the dryer with green electricity, the carpet manufacturer now has the option of CO2-neutral production of fully recyclable floor coverings.

The development of sustainable and efficient products is a fundamental focus for BRÜCKNER. This is primarily about minimizing the CO2 footprint, reducing resources and protecting the environment. This also includes heat recovery and exhaust air purification systems from the ECO product family, which are available in various sizes and different combinations. They can be supplied for new machines as well as retrofitted to existing lines from a wide range of manufacturers. Depending on the process and type of fabric, the ECO products contribute to a significant reduction in emissions and an increase in energy efficiency. Replacing dryers in existing lines can also contribute to a significant increase in efficiency and productivity.
